Warden Message

This is a follow up on the Warden Message of Jan 31, 2008 sent out early this morning. The U.S. Embassy currently recommends that American citizens in Chad stay at home and AVOID ALL TRAVEL. The U.S. Embassy has instituted a curfew from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am for all official personnel in N’Djamena.
For American citizens wishing to leave the country, the international airport in N’Djamena is currently open and commercial flights are operating. The security situation is dynamic, and the status of roads and the airport are subject to change without warning.
American citizens should closely monitor news media and the U.S. Embassy’s website. American citizens in Chad are urged to keep family and friends in the U.S. apprised of their whereabouts.
