Travelling to Cote d'Ivoire

WARDEN MESSAGE: Traveling to Cote d’Ivoire
Colleagues – Do any of your countries have major flights transiting Abidjan?  If so, you may want to alert Amcits in your country about the new visa regimen for Amcits going to Cote d’Ivoire.  Part of the difficulty is that the Ivoirian Government has not been very forthright on what the exact requirements will be, but we are trying to prevent Amcits getting unexpectedly waylaid.  Feel free to use the below cleared language if it would be helpful to Amcits.

Americans traveling to Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
The Government of Côte d’Ivoire has announced that, effective February 15, 2009, Americans traveling to Cote d’Ivoire must an obtain an Ivoirian visa prior to entry.  Until further information becomes available, travelers should consult with the nearest Ivorian embassy or consulate prior to embarking on their trip.
