The US Government supports peace in Chad

The Limited Scope Grant Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Chad and the Government of the United States represented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed in 2005 was amended to provide and increase in grant funding of $14.280.000 (fourteen millions two hundred and eighty thousand U.S. dollars).

This additional funding will be used to promote peace and stability in Chad, especially to support activities in the area of community development, to mitigate tensions between host and refugee communities, and to improve environment for credible elections.

The ceremony took place on Spetember 30, 2009 at the Ministry of Planning in N'Djamena.  Chargé d'Affairs, Sue Bremner, signed the document on behalf of the US Government.  On the Chadian side, the agreement was signed by Mr. Mahamat Ali Hassane, Acting Minister of Planning.
