The United States of America Helps Strengthen Chad’s Borders
On Tuesday, October 9th, the Government of the United States of America donated 18 Toyota Land Cruisers, two 5-ton Mercedes Benz trucks, and nine long-range radio systems to the Chadian Military’s Pan-Sahel Initiative (PSI). The equipment given to PSI, a Chadian long-range patrol unit responsible for patrolling Chad’s eastern, northern, and western borders, underscores the long-term commitment of the United States to PSI and Chad by dramatically improving PSI’s ability to conduct patrols securing Chad’s borders and protecting its citizens.
The U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d'affaires Todd Holmstrom called Chad “an important partner in our shared effort to combat terrorism and commended the PSI for its efforts to stop illicit flows across Chad’s borders.”
