Let’s Talk Politics – Convention Speeches Captivate Chadians

40+ English-speaking Chadian professionals – teachers and NGO activists, students and government workers – attended a Friday morning September 7 showing of the Convention speeches delivered by Governor Mitt Romney and President Barak Obama as they accepted their party’s call to office.  Transcripts were provided all the participants to let them better follow the speeches, as well as to write personal comments and notes on the side of the candidates’ remarks.  Their comments, reactions, observations and questions after each speech were dynamic, insightful, and admiring; the candidates’ foreign policy statements and pledges were especially of interest to them.   The first in a planned series of 2012 Election programs in September and October for Chadians who speak English, “Let’s Talk Politics” has gotten off to a terrific start!
