Let's Talk Politics

September 17, 2012

Program Participant Talking Politics

The second in the U.S. Embassy’s “Let’s Talk Politics” program series took place on Saturday morning, September 15, with members of the American Language Center’s English Club.   Intended to bring American diplomats and English-speaking Chadians together for an informal exchange of views and opinions on any number of subjects (September & October will focus on the 2012 U.S. Elections), the program is seen as a win/win opportunity for everyone.   Chadians get to use all their language skills –speaking, listening, and reading - with native English speakers, while embassy staff members have the chance to interact with Chadians they might not otherwise meet, and learn more about their country.  During the two hour program, Club members and embassy officers watched two short video clips featuring the US presidential candidates, and then American and Chadians alike shared their reactions, asked questions, and pondered/debated the candidates’ remarks and values.
