Non-Immigrant Visa

Non-Immigrant Visas

International visitors add greatly to the U.S. cultural, educational and economic life.  We are proud of our tradition of welcoming visitors, with secure borders and open doors.  Nationals of most countries, including Chad, must have a visa to travel to the U.S.  The most common types of visa are Business/Tourist Visas and Student Visas. The type of visa needed is defined by immigration law and is determined by your purpose of travel.  The consular officer will confirm which type of visa you need when you apply.

How to Apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa – Just 3 simple steps
IMPORTANT: The U.S Embassy in N’Djamena, Chad is transitioning to a NEW online application form DS-160 (PDF- 241KB) which replaces the following forms: DS-156 “Nonimmigrant Visa Application”, DS-157 “Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application”, and DS-158 “Contact Information and Work History for nonimmigrant Visa Applicant”.

Step One: Beginning June 1st, 2010, all visa applicants must use the new online application form found at https://ceac.state.gov/GENNIV

Step Two: Each individual requesting a visa needs to have an appointment time. Please make your appointment directly with the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy.

Step Three: Appear at the consulate on the day of your interview fully prepared with your confirmation page of the DS-160 application form.  Applicants should arrive no sooner than 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment time and no later than 30 minutes after the appointment time.  You will not be admitted for an interview if you arrive 30 minutes prior to or subsequent to your appointment time.
