About the Embassy

US Mission to Chad

"We are working to strengthen democratic institutions, the rule of law, respect for human rights, and empowerment of women. We are implementing the programs to help upgrade the judicial system and the independent press. We have also launched projects to improve civics education teaching in schools. We are supporting a weekly radio broadcast called “The Right to Know” to extend awareness of civic liberties. We are developing plans to assist in training newly elected officials and improving the functioning of the National Assembly. We are assisting efforts to ensure that Chad’s oil revenues are invested transparently to promote development and reduce poverty. And in our collaboration with Chad in fighting terrorism, we are always mindful that democracies need trained, effective soldiers and police who respect the rights of those they protect."

Marc Wall, former US Ambassador to Chad
