The U.S. Embassy in Ndjamena assumes no responsibility for the professional ability or reputation of the persons or medical facilities whose names appear on the following list; nor does this serve as an endorsement. While routine consultations and dire emergencies may be handled in Ndjamena, people may prefer to seek medical and dental service abroad, especially for intrusive procedures, if time and circumstances allow.
Please note that Medicaid/Medicare does not apply outside the United States, and your private medical insurance may also impose limits or not apply overseas; contact your insurance provider for more information. In addition, no private or government medical facility in Chad will file insurance claims. Only cash, often in advance of treatment, is accepted. The two medical clinics listed below, International SOS and EuropAssistance are the only two services in Chad that provide medevac services and offer an international standard of care. Both require advance membership sign-up online prior to utilization. It is highly recommended by many in the expatriate community that membership be obtained prior to arrival in Ndjamena. This information is provided for informational purposes only and in no way constitutes an endorsement by the U.S. Embassy in Chad of either of these services, either explicit or implied.
Visit a travel medicine clinic before you leave for Chad. Most visitors will require extra immunization and malaria prevention medication. Further information may be found at www.cdc.gov.
