SALARY:                  *Ordinarily Resident (OR):  FCFA 2,198,088 per annum Starting salary at Position Grade:  FSN-3

*Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): $21,840 USD per annum Starting salary at Position Grade:  FP-BB

LENGTH OF HIRE:  One year plus nine renewable

The U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena, Chad is seeking one (1) qualified individual for the position of Surveillance Detection Personnel in the Security Section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

The incumbent serves as security detection personnel. He/she is responsible for patrolling and or deploying to areas where official Mission facilities or residences are located, to protect Mission employees and eligible family members, as well as USG property. Additional responsibilities include conducting routine security inspections, responding to incidents involving members of the official community, reporting significant security-related events that occur during his/her shift and providing security assistant at Embassy special events as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. Education:  Secondary School education.
  2. Experience: One to two years of military, police or private experience in Security field.
  3. Language: Level III (good working knowledge) English and level IV (fluent) French are required.
  4. 4.    Job Knowledge:  Must have working knowledge of Security Detection. 
  5. Skills and abilities:  Must be tactful and courteous, able to communicate tactfully with all levels of society. 

SELECTION PROCESS

  1.  When fully qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs), and US Veteran applicants are given preference.  Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
  2. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy. 
  3. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
  4. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
  5. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
  6. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently in a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
