WORK HOURS:      Full-time; 40 hours/week

SALARY:                  *Ordinarily Resident (OR):  FCFA 4,569,810 per annum Starting salary at Position Grade:  FSN-6

 LENGTH OF HIRE:  One (1) Year plus nine renewable

The U.S. Embassy in Chad is seeking for one (1) individual for the position of Grounds- Keeper/ Custodial Foreman in the Facility Maintenance Section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

 Supervises gardeners and custodial staff for all Embassy owned and leased properties. Incumbent is directly supervised by the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.

 QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

 Education: 

Secondary School education is required.

 Experience:

 Three (3) years of progressively more responsible supervision experience in grounds keeping such as gardening, landscape maintenance, janitorial and supervision are required.

 Language:

Level II English and level III French are required.

 Job Knowledge:  

 S/he must have demonstrable knowledge in supervision and in grounds keeping and cleaning, including knowledge of cultivation techniques of local plants, use of gas powered, electric, and unpowered tools, soil testing and plant fertilization, pruning and trimming techniques, installation and use of automatic watering systems, and appropriate cleaning methods and techniques.

 5.      Skills and abilities: 

In addition to technical skills, the incumbent must be able to supervise staff, including performance management and discipline, schedule and plan work projects for adequate staffing and supplies, prepare reports, and have a current driver’s license.

 SELECTION PROCESS

  When fully qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs), and US Veteran applicants are given preference.  Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

  3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
  4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
  5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently in a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
