AF/PD Daphne Titus visited Ndjamena from March 10-12, 2009. During the two-day visit, she had the chance to visit two local institutions that had received Embassy grants: the National Curricula Center (CNC) and the Catholic Church’s Cornelia Connelly Center.

Given the success and popularity of the manuals, the Embassy gave an additional grant in 2008 to enable the CNC to evaluate and update the manuals’ contents. During a meeting with at CNC, Dr. Nomaye Madana, the institution’s Director General, briefed Ms. Titus about the status of the project. According to him, the project is running on schedule. |
Ms. Titus also visited another beneficiary of PD grant, the Cornelia Connelly Center of the Holy Child Jesus. This is a non-profit organization run by nuns that train Chadian disadvantaged women in various crafts including cookery, dress making and computer use. The center also hosts a library frequently visited by local students. The Center’s aim is to empower the women with necessary skills that would enable them to engage in revenue-generating activities upon the completion of the training. The Center’s Director, Sister Clementina, warmly thanked the USG for making it possible for her center to be able to provide adequate training to the women.
